I purchased this power supply after the original one 4 years old for my HP Pavillion dv5000t laptop died in the most peculiar manner excessive heat a strange beeping noise sudden death. I ordered this particular supply because it was advertised as unused original HP equipment. This made me a little more comfortable than the 8 aftermarket supply which may have worked fine but who knows. This one was still a really good deal. It is original HP appeared to be brand new and is working fine. It does seem like it is getting very hot as well so that has me concerned. It may just be the nature of the beast
